U.S. poultry industry consists of 25,000 family farmers that could benefit from solar energy and USDA Grant Program
VANCOUVER, CANADA, & KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE / ACCESSWIRE / September 9, 2019 / Solar Alliance Energy Inc. (‘Solar Alliance’ or the ‘Company’) (TSXV:SOLR)(OTC PINK:SAENF) is pleased to announce it has signed an agreement to build an 80 kilowatt (“kW”) solar system for a poultry producer in Kentucky. The project is being built in partnership with Whayne Supply Company, a Caterpillar dealer. The poultry producer, whose name cannot be released for confidentiality reasons, contracts to distributors such as Perdue Farms which then supplies its products to grocery stores, food service outlets and fast food restaurants. Construction on the project will begin this week.
In addition to this project, Solar Alliance is also partnering with Whayne Supply Company on signing an additional six solar systems for agricultural businesses located in Southern Indiana and Kentucky. Together, Solar Alliance and Whayne Supply Company are targeting more than 600 poultry producers in Kentucky and are excited about the prospects for solar deployment in the industry. The retail poultry industry in the U.S. is valued at more than $95 billion and is supported by 25,000 family farmers that could benefit from solar energy.
The project will also include a US Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) grant application which will provide significant support for renewable energy projects for agricultural producers. The USDA program includes grants for up to 25% of total eligible project costs and loans for up to 75% of total eligible solar project costs.
