Buchanan & Edwards Supports Local Charity, Teardrops to Rainbows

February 03, 2012 --

Arlington, Virginia (PRWEB) February 03, 2012

For a second year, Buchanan & Edwards (BE) has made a $1,000 donation to Teardrops to Rainbows (T2R), a local charity that supports families of children battling cancer. BE made the donation as part of the Capital Area .NET Developer Challenge in conjunction with the Northern Virginia CodeCamp.

Teardrops to Rainbows, a non-profit organization in Fairfax, VA, improves the quality of life of children with cancer and their families by providing support, services and financial assistance. Their goal is to enable families to spend quality time together, focus on the childs cancer treatment, and help families stay better connected when they cannot be together in person.

Last years Developer Challenge raised $11,000. The funds sponsored the construction of a colorfully designed specialized treatment room at Childrens Hospital. So far this year, the charity has raised $8,000 through individual and corporate donations.

Support for T2R is just one of several ways BE gives back to the local community to ensure the comfort and health of the children who are the promise of our nations future, said BE CEO Brian Karlisch. When we saw what T2R accomplished with the funds raised through last years Developer Challenge, we knew our commitment would make a significant difference for these families again this year. We are honored to take part in this effort.

The Capital Area .NET User Group has supported T2R for five years. The Developer Challenge donation drive was recently incorporated into the annual NOVA CodeCamp to increase awareness and support for this charity. The NOVA CodeCamp is a free, one-day event that promotes software development in the community.
