GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. We live in a world with a constantly evolving economy, and on Tuesday, more than 150 high school students participated in an interactive discussion about our ever-changing global economy at Colorado Mesa University. The Third Annual Western Slope Economic Leadership Conference hosted by the FREE Foundation allows students to learn how free market solutions may be used to solve societal problems. Two nationally recognized speakers were provided by the Foundation for Teaching Economics, Don Fell, the FTE Program Director, and Dr. John Brock, a Colorado University Professor and Director of the Center for Economic Education in Colorado Springs. "Leadership skills need to be cultivated in young people, and that they need to have a knowledge of economics because they'll be making economic decisions their entire lives", says Phyllis Hunsinger, the President of the Free Foundation. CMU President Tim Foster opened the conference by welcoming the students on campus. After the conference, student ambassadors for CMU held campus tours for high school students who attended.
