System One Expands Smart Metering Reach with Exclusive Utility Partners of America Partnership

October 26, 2009 -- PITTSBURGH, BUSINESS WIRE --

System One, the leader in technical outsourcing and careers, announced today an exclusive partnership with Utility Partners of America (UPA), a Greenville, SC-based firm specializing in utility services and smart meter installations. Under the agreement, System One will provide outsourced staffing and services in support of UPA smart grid deployments.

With more than 30 years of experience delivering large-scale managed staffing programs, System One has developed a national presence in the clean energy sector, with an emphasis on recruiting and logistics for smart metering, wind and solar energy.

UPA has built a national service company to facilitate utilities' conversion from legacy meter technology to innovative electronic technology. The company has become one of the nation's largest providers of water, gas and electric installations to enable Automated Meter Reading (AMR) through the Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI).

'As the U.S. emerges from recession, utility companies will increasingly turn to outside resources to support the public's growing demand for clean, sustainable energy,' said Troy Gregory, President and CEO of System One. 'System One and UPA's combined strength creates a proven platform for expansion, just as the national smart grid infrastructure is being realized.'

Capitalizing on best practices from both firms' business models, UPA will offer its utility firm clients a turnkey solution supported by its own proprietary technology and System One's national recruiting framework. 'The time is right to align our services for the benefit of our clients,' said Mike Cale, Executive Vice President of Utility Partners of America. 'Now more than ever, UPA offers a strong value proposition for the accelerated development of the smart grid.'
